Domaine de Nizas
Domaine de Nizas is situated in the heart of the Languedoc. It was created in 1998, by John Goelet, an American descendant of a family of Bordeaux wine merchants. John's driving ambition was to create greate wines in exceptional terroirs around the world. He gave Bernard Portet the mission of selecting the most promising terroirs in the world.
After founding Clos du Val in the US and Taltarni in Australia in the 1970s, Bernard identified the terroir around Pezenas as having exceptional promise. Bernard created the estate by acquiring individual blocks with different soil types to create a diverse source of grapes for winemaking. He remains involved as the Technical Advisor.
Nathalie Arnaud-Bernard, being the Technical Director since 2011, has extensive winemaking experience internationally and in the Languedoc. She is inspired by a profound respect for nature and applies sustainable agricultural techniques and absolute attention to details to protect the biodiversity of the terroirs. Domaine de Nizas has been certified with sustainable agriculture since 2007.
